In my previous post 'Table Creation: Minor mistake but Major Problem Part 1' I have discussed about the table creation part and also about a problem caused while creating the table . In this post I will be discussing about the root cause for that problem and also the remedy part...
If we just rewind and go back to the table creation post ,there is a tab named 'Delivery and Maintenance' . In that we have a field data browser/Table view maint...We have three options for table view maintenance -
- Display/maintenance allowed with restrictions.
- Display/maintenance allowed .
- Display/maintenance not allowed .
Initially when we are new we are not fully aware what could be the consequences and side-effects if we select a particular option. We just go by the word meaning and don't give much importance in understanding each option. I will be explaining the use of each option and its importance in this post.
Display/maintenance allowed with restrictions : if we select this option only the display operation will be functional ,all the other operations like insert , update and delete will be disabled.
Display/maintenance allowed : Selecting this allows all the operations to be performed in the table.
Normally most people misunderstand these two options and consider it to have almost the same functionality, that's when the error occurs.
Display/maintenance not allowed : This doesn't support any of the operation including the display.
I think now you would have got the difference . Change the option to Display/Maintenance allowed and start inserting values into the table.
Any queries please feel free to comment.
