How to set a default logon language in my SAP CRM WEB UI

Print Friendly

Welcome back..

When you log onto the SAP CRM system, you either might use the transaction code CRM_UI or directly launch SAP CRM via your favorites (if you stored the URL of the SAP CRM WEBUI already in your favorites). What I'll show you is how you can set a default logon language in the "Logon screen" that appears after you launched the SAP CRM WEBUI.

I assume you read my previous article “How to launch the SAP CRM  WEBUI” so you already know this part.

Now at the logon screen, you must enter the following data:

  • Client
  • User
  • Password
  • Language

In this article I am merely talking about how we can default the field “Language” with a language of our choice.

Example: The employees of the company I currently work at are either French or Dutch speaking people.  In this example I am going to use the Dutch example as I am from the Flemish part of Belgium –so speaking Dutch.

Option 1-Setting the default language using the Internet Explorer Language Options

In the Internet Explorer  (as I am not sure which version of Internet Explorer you are working with the screenshots might differ !!) go to the menu and select “Internet Options

In the next screen, click on the button “Languages”

Now in the screen below I am not sure what you will see. There might be 1 language visible or multiples ones. Just make sure that your preferred logon language is in the list! If it’s not, than you can add the language by pushing the “Add” button.

In the example below, my preferred logon language “Dutch” is already in the available list. The only thing I must do here, is select the language , and next click on the button” Move Up” until ‘Nederlands (Dutch) is at the upper level – so the first language in the list.

The result would look like this:

When this is the case, you press the button “OK” in this pop-up, and also in the other screen that follows!
Now, close your Internet Explorer, and launch the SAP CRM application once again using your favorites or the transaction code CRM_UI. As of now, my default language is set to “Nederlands (Dutch)” .

Option 2: Setting your default logon language using a parameter in the URL

If you read my article on “How to launch the SAP CRM  WEBUI” you already saw that the URL that launches the SAP CRM WEBUI, looks normally like this:

Example:

http://:/sap/bc/bsp/sap/crm_ui_start/default.htm?sap-client=100&sap-user=XXX&sap-password=YYY&sap-language=EN

In the previous chapter, you saw I set my default language to Dutch, using the Internet Explorer language settings.

To illustrate the second option, I reset the default language in my Internet Explorer language options back to “English”.

What I am going to change now, is the string (URL) that is set in my favorites to launch the SAP CRM WEBUI.

The favorite I use to launch my demo SAP CRM system is “SAP CRM WEB CLIENT –ERP Training ..”

I do a right-mouse click on this Favorite and next click on “Eigenschappen – Properties

I now will the URL itself; and at the same time will change it hereby adding the following string at the end of my current URL:
&sap-language=NL

The URL therefore will now look like this:

Relaunching the SAP CRM WEBUI using my favorite will now once again call up mylogon screen where “Nederlands (Dutch)” is set as the default logon language.
