Buffering the organizational model and attributes in SAP CRM

Print Friendly

Hi,

when you have setup the organizational model in SAP CRM, you should make sure that you scheduleĀ a specific report every night in order to increase your SAP CRM system performance !

To improve your system's performance, a report HRBCI_ATTRIBUTES_BUFFER_UPDATE should be scheduled to run every night. But be careful, this report should only run after midnight for buffering the current day. If not, organizational data may be not available, and inconsistencies may occur.

If you consult help.sap.com and check out the information on this topic, you'll see the following:

Buffering for CRM Organizational Data

To improve system performance, you can use the HRBCI_ATTRIBUTES_BUFFER_UPDATE program for buffering organizational model and attributes.

Call up view T77OMATTR via SM30 and select the buffering field for each scenario to buffer corresponding objects.

Execute program HRBCI_ATTRIBUTES_BUFFER_UPDATE every morning (after 0:00 hours) before starting your systems. This time of after 0:00 hours is important for starting up the current day buffer, as data for organizational management is time-dependent.

Recommendation:

We recommend you schedule the program every night as a background job !

Note:

You can also influence performance by customizing organizational data determination, by using the Responsibility rule type.

Responsibility determination rules determine the required organizational unit (or required partner) without evaluating the organizational model. That is why determination rules of this rule type perform better.

Hi Davy - Who should be responsible for updating Org model regularly? Is it a task of a Security Admin?

Hi,
updating the org model is "definitely" NOT the task of the security admin. It is normally done by e.g. the SAP CRM Project implementation team during/before go-live phase. Once live, maintenance is normally done by the SAP CRM support team and/or business "key-users".
I will try to create an article about org model maintenance within the next coming days..as the question is not only WHO is updating the org model, but also WHAT is being updated and by WHO..because as you probably are aware of, the org model is kind of the critical aspect around which SAP CRM processes are working and have an impact on e.g. organizational data determination, business role determination (via org model), potentially indirect authorization role assignment and other critical stuff..
cheers
Davy
